R.A. Welcomes Newcomers!
RECOVERIES ANONYMOUS is a universal Twelve Step recovery program. We welcome everyone, regardless of your problems, behaviors, or symptoms. We have no dues or fees. Your family and friends are also invited. You are not alone. We look forward to you joining us!
At R.A. Meetings, we follow the example of the program's creators, the pioneers. We do as they did at their meetings. We focus on their simple idea and practical program of action, the Twelve Steps, instead of our problems, behaviors, or symptoms. This helps everyone feel included.
In R.A. Discussions, we each share a quote from R.A.'s Suggested Literature. We then explain why it is interesting or important to us. We also talk about the positive results we experience as we fully work the Twelve Steps. Newcomers can also share about a quote, listen without sharing, or pass.
You do not need to be religious to benefit from the Twelve Steps. We welcome people of all faiths, as well as atheists and agnostics.
R.A. has learned that we have not only been mentally and physically ill, but also spiritually sick. When we fully work all Twelve Steps by following the pioneers' clear-cut directions, the spiritual malady is overcome. We straighten out mentally and physically.
R.A. has found that the original spiritual program that produced recovery from alcoholism can also help you recover from many other problems, behaviors, or symptoms. Some examples are:
Eating disorders, including weight gain or loss.
Addiction or abuse of drugs, foods, chemicals, substances, as well as
caffeine, nicotine, and smoking.
Compulsions including gambling, lying, shopping, spending,
shoplifting, stealing, and kleptomania.
Obsessions such as exercising, cluttering, hoarding, pornography,
and workaholism.
Relationship issues, including love and sex addictions,
codependency, obsessive relationships, and incest.
Emotional struggles with depression, anger, rage, anxiety, shame,
self-hatred, cutting, and picking.
Personality disorders, including physical, emotional, or financial
abuse.
Other conditions, such as procrastinating, underachieving,
underearning, freeze or fawn trauma responses, PTSD, and OCD.
In R.A., we follow the pioneers original path to fully work all Twelve Steps. As we take continuous action on them as a way of life, we find the same results the pioneers found: a lasting recovery and a contented, useful life.
Since 1984, R.A. has helped thousands recover. Many once thought they were hopeless. Do not be discouraged. As you go through all Twelve Steps with R.A., life will take on new meaning. R.A. is here to help you too!
